Introduction

The OSCE training is designed to evaluate professionals to competently apply their professional nursing skills and knowledge in the UK. This examination tests their capability of applying knowledge to the care of patients at the level expected of a newly registered nurse.

During the training, nurses will be taught how to apply holistic patient-centred nursing care and implement key clinical skills in their profession. All the scenarios and associated questions in this examination correlate to current best practice and candidates are expected to answer them in relation to published evidence and not according to local arrangements.

Communication is central to nursing practice and will be assessed continually during the OSCE.
