Introduction

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in the United Kingdom has established a two part examination of competence for nurses and midwives seeking registration in the UK and these tests of competence have been made mandatory since October 2014 for nurses and midwives trained outside the European Economic Area(EEA) which measure the candidates against the current UK pre-registration standards and ability to perform professional nursing or midwifery skills and knowledge in the UK.

The first part of this test is known as CBT(computer based test), conducted by various Pearson VUE test centres and other professional centres and the second part of the test is known as Objective structured clinical examination(OSCE) is only available in at designated centres in the UK and can only be attempted after successfully completing the CBT, receiving the decision letter from the NMC and a visa clearance to travel, work and stay in the UK.

UK NMC CBT Adult examination

The UK NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) Computer-Based Test (CBT) is a part of the registration process for nurses and midwives trained outside the UK who wish to practice in the UK.
